The Story: This piece is from the sketchbook exploration series, highlighting the trials and errors of stepping outside my comfort zone. If you have been here for a while, you know that my love of the mountains is deep rooted. After a day of doom scrolling and seeing dozens of national park images and videos, I popped open the sketchbook and started creating this scene. As with my other sketchbook landscapes, I was focused on finding the balance between too much and too little detail. I wanted to feel the spirit of the place. I don't know about you, but I can hear the waterfalls in this one and smell the spray of the water with that crisp mountain scent of trees, wood, and damp ground. I could spend all day here, phone off, dogs by my side.
